Text description supplied by the architects. At the time this undertaking was conceived, Liberty United Methodist Church experienced outgrown its latest campus on a notable hilltop of the metropolis. At 18,000 square toes, this job is the initial stage in relocating the church to a 32-acre web-site that supports and encourages advancement of the church membership. With an emphasis on serving younger people by a present-day worship style, the undertaking presents a new, adaptable worship space blended with classrooms for children and grown ups.
Liberty United Methodist Church has a sturdy heritage filled with custom and symbolism, not the least of which is the Cross and Flame. Studying the origins of the image and discovering connections to Renaissance depictions of the Holy Spirit led to the advancement of an architectural expression of biblical scripture Acts 2:3.
Although the expression is mostly symbolic, it served to unify a congregation wrestling with the change essential to access folks in a new era. In the entry court, the colors are most vibrant as 1 enters under the Methodist insignia and the historic bell from LUMC’s original church. White terra-cotta shingles clad the upper portion of the exterior symbolizing the upswept wings of a dove.
